An educational event was held at Baku Eurasian University (BAAU) within the framework of the project “Western Azerbaijan in the Turkish World”, implemented by the World Young Turkish Writers Union (NGO) with the support of the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The event began with the performance of the National Anthem of Azerbaijan. Following this, Assoc. Prof. Sevda Rzayeva, Vice-Rector for International Relations, delivered the opening speech, emphasizing the relevance of the project and highlighting the importance of promoting the topic of Western Azerbaijan both academically and socially fostering quality education and awareness among youth through knowledge dissemination.
Prof. Gülzar İbrahimova, Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs, noted that such initiatives play a significant role in educating the younger generation, contributing to an informed and responsible society, which promotes peace, justice, and inclusive institutions through historical and cultural understanding.
İntiqam Yashar, President of World Young Turkish Writers Union, outlined the goals of the project, stressing the importance of conveying the historical, literary, and social dimensions of the Western Azerbaijan issue to a wider audience within the Turkish world as the project fosters international cooperation and cultural exchange among Turkish-speaking communities.
Akbar Qoshalı, project expert and Chair of the Advisory Board of the NGO, highlighted the project’s conceptual directions and emphasized the necessity of preserving shared historical memory among Turkish peoples, further strengthening international partnerships and promoting social cohesion.
Finally, Dr. Afqan Valiyev, Sector Head of the Center for Social Research and PhD in Sociology, emphasized the importance of evaluating the issue in a modern sociological context, reinforcing critical thinking and social awareness among students and promoting dialogue and understanding that supports peaceful societies.
