A scientific seminar titled “Current Issues in the Formation of a Green Energy Zone in Azerbaijan”, dedicated to the “Year of Solidarity for a Green World”, was organized jointly by the Departments of Economics and Business & Management at Baku Eurasian University (BAAU).

The event was held within the framework of Sustainable Development Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, and brought together faculty members and students from the Faculty of Regional Studies and Economics.

In the opening speech, Associate Professor Mutallim Rahimov, Dean of the Faculty of Regional Studies and Economics, emphasized the critical importance of developing a green energy space in Azerbaijan for both the economy and environmental sustainability. He noted that the advancement of renewable energy sources—such as wind, solar, and hydroelectric—is essential not only domestically but also on a global scale, highlighting their role in ensuring sustainable development and preserving ecological balance.

As part of the seminar, students delivered presentations analyzing a wide range of issues related to the transition to sustainable and fuel-efficient energy systems and the integration of these systems into the economy and infrastructure. Discussions emphasized the need to attract investment in renewable energy technologies, increase government support, develop innovative energy solutions, and promote energy education to help Azerbaijan become a green energy zone. The role of policies ensuring energy security and energy sovereignty was also addressed.

The seminar concluded with a dynamic discussion session on the topic.

It is worth noting that under the theme of the “Year of Solidarity for a Green World”, BAAU continues to host various events that contribute to sustainable development goals. These initiatives are seen as effective tools to raise awareness among students and youth on climate change, greenhouse gas emissions, and environmental issues.
