In line with the declaration of 2024 as the “Year of Solidarity for a Green World” and within the framework of COP29, Baku Eurasian University (BAAU) has launched the campaign “Car Free Movement” to raise environmental responsibility and contribute to global climate change mitigation efforts.
As part of this initiative, the university’s academic and administrative staff, along with students, joined this campaign and commuted to the university using low-carbon transport options such as walking, bicycles, scooters, and public transit (bus and metro), significantly lowering carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions associated with private vehicle use.
The primary goal of the campaign is to raise awareness about Climate Action (SDG 13) by addressing the urgent need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and combat global warming. Through this initiative, BAAU calls on other higher education, secondary, general, and vocational institutions to participate in a similar campaign aimed at building sustainable climate solutions.
Through this activity, BAAU promotes an environmentally responsible lifestyle, sustainable urban mobility, and the creation of a green future among students and staff, while also inviting other higher, secondary, general, and vocational education institutions to join similar initiatives.
The successful implementation of the campaign was supported by the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency, Baku Metro CJSC, and BakuBus LLC, all committed to promoting low-carbon mobility and climate finance initiatives.
