The 8th General Assembly meeting of the Union of Turkish Universities (TÜRKÜNİB) was held on October 15, 2025, in Tashkent, Republic of Uzbekistan, hosted by Tashkent International University. The international event brought together rectors and senior representatives from more than 70 universities operating in Turkic states. During the meeting, a number of important decisions were made to expand mutual cooperation in the fields of education, science, and innovation.
At the 8th Assembly, a total of 62 higher education institutions, including 13 universities from Azerbaijan, were admitted as new members of TÜRKÜNİB. Among the new members was Baku Eurasian University (BAAU).
Within the framework of the Assembly, it was proposed to establish a permanent secretariat and an ORHUN Exchange Program Fund to ensure the more efficient organization of TÜRKÜNİB’s activities.
During the event, participants discussed prospects for cooperation in aligning joint programs in education and science, expanding student and faculty exchanges, as well as implementing joint scientific projects, conferences, and cultural events among member universities.
The accession of Baku Eurasian University to the TÜRKÜNİB family is considered an important step towards strengthening the university’s international cooperation ties and deepening integration among Turkic world universities.
Additionally, it should be noted that universities accepted as members of TÜRKÜNİB also gain the opportunity to benefit from the Orhun Exchange Program. The Orhun Exchange Program is an international platform established to enhance cooperation among Turkic states in the fields of education and culture, and to promote the exchange of students and academic staff. The main objective of the program is to ensure that the young generation, scholars, and specialists are educated based on the common values of the Turkic world.
Taking into account the importance of integration processes and international cooperation in the modern world, the Orhun Exchange Program opens new opportunities and prospects for the academic staff and students of Baku Eurasian University.
