BAAU Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sayavush Gasimov and Vice-rector for International Relations Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sevda Rzayeva participated in the 1st International Micro-Credentials Congress (IMCC-2026), held in Ankara, Türkiye. The second and final day of the congress continued discussions on the future of higher education and lifelong learning.
The congress focused on the growing role of micro-credentials in bridging education, skills development, and the evolving needs of society and the labour market. Discussions covered institutional models, digital platforms, quality assurance mechanisms, and innovative learning pathways, highlighting the importance of flexible, competence-based education in responding to changing professional and social demands.
One of the key themes of the congress was the transition from a traditional diploma-oriented approach towards a culture of continuous learning and skills development. This transformation is expected to play an increasingly important role in shaping the future of higher education institutions worldwide.
The congress provided a valuable platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and collaboration among academics, policymakers, and industry representatives. It was organised with the participation of Gazi University and the Micro-Credentials Association of Türkiye (*Mikro-Yeterlilikler Derneği*).
The participation of BAAU’s leadership in the congress provided an opportunity to explore emerging approaches to higher education, strengthen professional ties, and consider future cooperation opportunities in micro-credentials, innovative learning pathways, and lifelong learning.
