A debate session on the topic of gender equality was organized by the Debate Club operating under the Student Scientific Society (SSS) of Baku Eurasian University (BAAU). The event aimed to deepen students' understanding of gender-related issues and foster open dialogue on the topic within the university community.  The session was moderated by the Chair of the Debate Club, Aykhan Raziyev. In the first part of the event, participants were presented with information on the concept of gender equality, the various forms of gender-based discrimination, including bullying, sexism, racism, and disparities in employment and wages between the sexes across different professions. The discussion highlighted the social importance of achieving gender equality and eliminating discriminatory practices.  Following the presentation, an engaging discussion took place among students, during which diverse perspectives on gender issues were explored. Topics included the role of women and girls in leadership, representation of female, non-binary, and queer individuals in various sectors, as well as challenges faced by transgender, two-spirit, and LGBTQ+ communities under patriarchal structures.  University faculty member Chimnaz Ismayilbeyli and SSS Chair Nermin Nurullayeva, who attended the event, emphasized the importance of addressing contemporary gender-related challenges, such as violence against women, trafficking, and forced marriage. They noted that such discussions play a crucial role in shaping public consciousness among students and commended the Debate Club for initiating a meaningful and necessary conversation.  Both speakers stressed the need for such initiatives to be held regularly to promote inclusive thinking and social responsibility among young people.
