 The event "Year of Solidarity for a Green World - 2024" was held as part of the "Year of Solidarity for a Green World" initiative, organized by the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature at Baku Eurasian University (BAAU). The event was conducted in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 13: Climate Action and Goal 15: Life on Land. Conducted in English, the event highlighted the urgent need to address the effects of global warming, greenhouse gas emissions, and other anthropogenic contributors to climate change. Student presentations tackled critical climate issues including carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions, methane, rising sea levels, and extreme weather conditions.    These presentations aimed to raise awareness about global climate change, contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goal 13 (SDG) "Climate Action.”  They also exchanged views on measures to prevent forest fires and protect nature, in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goal 15 (SDG) "Life on Land."  Students explored issues such as soil erosion, deforestation, pollution, threats to endangered species, forest conservation, biodiversity protection, and reversing habitat loss. They emphasized the need for ecological restoration, sustainable and traditional land use, and the protection of natural habitats for both flora and fauna.  Subsequently, the students performed a skit on environmental awareness, providing an opportunity to showcase their knowledge and skills in environmental protection, in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goal 13 (SDG) "Climate Action."  Evaluating the event organized by the students to address environmental issues as a commendable initiative, the department representatives emphasized the significance of such educational meetings. They highlighted the importance of fostering environmental awareness, noting that every individual should integrate environmental consciousness into their daily lives.  It is important to note that, as part of the "Year of Solidarity for a Green World," various events are regularly organized at Baku Eurasian University (BAAU).. These efforts reflect the university's broader mission to contribute to global climate justice, encourage sustainable practices, and prepare the next generation to engage in transformative actions aligned with the SDGs.
