A group of students from Baku Eurasian University (BAAU) participated in the Novruz festival titled “My Khoncha is Beautiful.” The event took place on March 15–16 at the Baku Sea Terminal and aimed to celebrate the arrival of spring and promote national and cultural sustainability in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4 and SDG 11). The students attended the festival together with BAAU’s Vice-Rector for International Relations, Associate Professor Sevda Rzayeva.
Within the framework of the festival, the students became closely acquainted with national traditions, examples of ancient craftsmanship, and cultural heritage, thereby contributing to SDG 4.7 – promoting education for cultural understanding and sustainability. During the “My Khoncha is Beautiful” competition, participants presented their beautifully decorated Novruz trays. In addition, one of the main parts of the festival—the craft exhibitions—showcased various examples of ancient Azerbaijani art, supporting SDG 11.4 on safeguarding cultural heritage.
It should be noted that BAAU attaches great importance to students’ engagement in cultural education and sustainable communities through the preservation and transmission of national traditions to future generations. The university also promotes institutional partnerships for sustainable development (SDG 17) by encouraging participation in cultural and educational events that strengthen social cohesion and intercultural dialogue.
