BAAU Delivers Educational Outreach Programme at Seyid Jafar Pishevari Humanities Gymnasium
On 27 October 2026, academic staff from Baku Eurasian University’s (BAAU) Faculty of Philology delivered an educational outreach programme for ninth- and tenth-grade pupils at Seyid Jafar Pishevari Humanities Gymnasium. Organised within the university’s cooperation with local schools, the event brought academic expertise beyond campus to encourage pupils’ interest in linguistics, literature and Turkology.
The programme marked the centenary of the First Turkological Congress. Representatives of BAAU’s Department of Theoretical Linguistics and Turkic Languages and Department of Azerbaijani and World Literature delivered lectures and led discussions on the congress’s historical significance and its contribution to the study of Turkic languages and cultural heritage.
Associate Professor Zamina Rustambayli and Professor Elmira Mammadova-Kekech discussed the congress’s linguistic and literary legacy and the importance of sharing this knowledge with younger generations. Senior lecturers Turana Zeynalova and Gunel Shikhaliyeva presented “From History to the Future: The 100-Year Journey of the Turkological Congress”, introducing pupils to key themes in language, literature and cultural studies.
An interactive question-and-answer session encouraged pupils to explore the topics further and exchange ideas with university academics. Books and commemorative gifts were presented to pupils who actively participated.
By delivering educational activities at a local school, BAAU extended learning opportunities to pupils outside its university community, supporting their intellectual development and future academic choices. Representatives of both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to continuing cooperation and organising further educational meetings.
