“Awareness Against Drug Addiction” event was organized at Baku Eurasian University (BAAU), focusing on mental wellness, substance abuse, and public health. The event was attended by the management of the Healthy Step (Sağlam Addım) Rehabilitation Center, individuals who have experienced drug addiction, and university students.
At the opening of the event, BAAU’s Vice-Rector for International Relations, Associate Professor Sevda Rzayeva, spoke about the dangers of drug addiction for young people, highlighting its impact on mental health and overall well-being, and emphasized the importance of awareness-raising and health education initiatives of this kind.
Following this, Anar Aliyev, Director of the Healthy Step (Sağlam Addım) Rehabilitation Center, discussed the significance of combating drug addiction, the activities of the center he manages, and the rehabilitation services it provides. He urged young people to stay away from this dangerous habit and adopt a healthy lifestyle, emphasizing the role of mental wellness and preventive health care in achieving long-term well-being.
During the event, the invited guests shared their experiences and expressed their views on public health initiatives and the management of substance abuse in our country. A video clip on “The Consequences of Drug Addiction” was then shown, highlighting the serious health issues associated with addiction.
The event was open to the wider community, and attracted local residents, students, and professionals interested in understanding and addressing the challenges associated with drug use.
The event concluded with a wide-ranging discussion on the topic, during which students’ questions were answered, reinforcing the importance of health education, mindfulness, and holistic approaches to mental and physical well-being.
