POLICY ON STANDARDS FOR
ENERGY EFFICIENCY
Policy statement
In the process of following building codes, Baku Eurasian University (BAAU) adhere to country's national construction norms and regulations. Appropriate to regulations of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture, while construction process, building standards that aimed increasing energy efficiency have been prioritizing in order to provide safety and quality requirements. The university obeys a strategic way to reduce energy consumption and green gas energy.
Scope
All university departments, teachers, staff, and students participating in campus operations and facility management are subject to the Policy on Standards for Energy Efficiency. It ensures adherence to energy-saving methods and sustainable operations for anybody using campus resources, including those in charge of building maintenance, procurement, and energy management.
Purpose
Priority targets in building codes for the university are following:

- Audits of Energy and Baseline Evaluations:Implementation of comprehensive energy audit annually to determine energy consumption is a useful tool to encourage continuous improvement in the field of energy-saving.
- Retrofitting Pre-Existing Buildings: Installation energy-efficient windows, lighting, and insulation in older structures is one of measures for achieving sustainable development goal (SDG7).
- Smart Energy Management Systems:When areas are not in use, utilize motion sensors in auditoriums and public areas to decrease waste and control lighting.
- Integration of Renewable Energy:The University has set a goal using renewable energy for promoting energy efficiency for existing buildings. With this aim, authorized representatives of the university conduct appropriate discussions and meetings in order to upgrade the existing building to the higher energy efficiency.
- Green Buildings Standards: According to the initiatives of The State Agency on Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources and other institutions, BAAU prioritizes utilization of sustainable construction techniques. Incorporating renewable energy sources and energy-efficient equipment into the built environment is crucial for cutting carbon emissions and saving resources.

Review
The review of this policy will occur at least every two years. Until a new version is adopted, the existing version of the policy will continue to be fully enforceable.
