Sustainable Development Goal 6 focuses on ensuring availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all. Established as one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals by the United Nations in September 2015, the full title of SDG 6 is "Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all." SDG 6 aims to provide universal access to safe and affordable drinking water, adequate sanitation, and hygiene facilities. One of its key targets is to improve water quality by reducing pollution and minimizing the release of hazardous chemicals. This underscores the urgent need to invest in sustainable water management practices and infrastructure to ensure that all individuals have access to clean water and sanitation, promoting health and well-being for communities worldwide.

BAAU as a body measures the total volume of water used in the university that is taken from mains supply, desalinated, or extracted from rivers, lakes, or acquifers. Baku Eurasian University (BAAU) has taken significant steps by installing numerous water meters across its campus. These meters not only track the volume of water consumption but also help curb wasteful water usage. With the campus known for its extensive green spaces and landscaping, irrigation is essential. The data collected from these meters enables the engineering unit to evaluate the performance of the sprinkler and drip irrigation systems used for maintaining these areas. Consequently, the goal of minimizing water usage for irrigating the green spaces on campus is effectively achieved.

    Baku Eurasian University implements construction standards aimed at minimising water consumption. Our administration prioritises the development of structures that include facilities for water recycling and reuse. The rooftops of our buildings are engineered to effectively harvest rainwater. The campus's infrastructure has strategically positioned rainwater harvesting tanks to collect runoff from rainfall. Therefore, it can be stated that our construction standards align with protocols designed to reduce water usage. In addition, we utilise the collected rainwater to aid in construction activities throughout our vast university campus, where various construction projects are currently in progress.

    BAAU incorporates drought-tolerant plants in its landscaping to minimize water usage and promote sustainable practices.

    Baku Eurasian University is continually growing. As the campus expands, green spaces constitute a significant part of this growth. The objective has been to minimise parking areas while maximising green spaces throughout the university. However, increasing these green spaces necessitates a higher amount of water for irrigation. Furthermore, incorporating drought-tolerant plants into these newly developed green areas is another strategy that helps decrease water usage for their irrigation. The pine tree is a well-known species recognized for its drought-resistant qualities, which not only enhances the landscape but is also a productive, evergreen plant.

    BAAU provides educational opportunities for local communities to learn about effective water management practices through workshops, seminars, and outreach programs.

    Good water management should always be a central theme. Because the awareness of all interested parties in this matter can have a serious impact on the water management of the university. BAAU continuously imparts effective water management practices to local communities through seminars, workshops and outreach programs.
